This historic hotel is situated at Apsley on the Wimmera Highway close to the South Australian Border. The original hotel was built in 1850 with the first licence then being issued by the New South Wales Licensing Board. After a fire extensively damaged the building in 1887, it was rebuilt a little further along the street where today it proudly stands with its Art Deco facade on the corner of Wallace and Splatt Street. The Border Inn Hotel is open from 11:00 am until late daily and we serve Lunch and Dinner, with a daily Specials Board, seven days a week in our Dining Room. The bar meals, takeaways and ready-to-go snacks are popular for those on the run and coffees and cakes are available all day long. We also sell ice creams, milk, bread, soft drink and a selection of grocery items. There are several different beers on tap and our wines are sourced mainly from the Coonawarra and Wrattonbully wineries. In summer the Courtyard Garden with the childrenâ€™s play house is a lovely spot to spend time and in winter the warm log fires in the Parlour and the Bar are cosy and welcoming. Our comfortable accommodation is reasonably priced and we provide free caravan camping at the rear of the hotel. Things to do around Apsley while you visit the Border Inn Hotel are: * Newlands Nature Walking Track is a 5km round walk (or lesser if you wish) * Take the Historic Walk along Main Street * Little Willow Farm Sculptures along the Bringalbert Road (15km north of town) * Baileyâ€™s Rocks at the Dergholm State Park (44km south of town)
