TRADITIONAL STREET PEDDLERS FOOD OF INDONESIA
There are not many cuisines that can be said to be truly enjoyed nationally throughout Indonesia, but for sure there are more cuisines that Indonesian knows beside nasi goreng and mi goreng. Bakso is one of them. Everywhere you go in insian kids must have a keen memory of eating bakso.
In Melbourne, there are not many restaurants serve bakso, but Meetbowl offers bakso as it will traditionally be cooked and enjoyed. And just to make it the best, delicious street peddlers.
Customarily, there is a certain way that most Indonesian enjoys their bowl of bakso, that is by adding many kinds of sauce and garnishes into their bow to their own taste. And truly, those additions increase the deliciousness of this cuisine, for those sauces will somehow bring out the mouth watering aroma of the beef soup.
Here is a list of what you can add to your bowl of bakso :
1. Kecap manis (sweet soy sauce). This dark coloured sauce adds the sweetness of the soup and when mixed with the traditional beef soup will also add caramelized aroma into it.
2. Vinegar. The aroma of this tart addition will enrich the complexity of the delicious aroma of bakso.
3. Sambal (traditional chilli sauce). For people with a taste for spicy food, adding sambal is a must. However, be warned that sambal bakso is very hot and should be added sensibly to one's taste.
4. Tomato ketchup. Sometimes Indonesian also adds this sauce, instead or along with the vinegar, to give another different dimension into the taste of bakso.
5. Fried shallot. By default, this garnish will already be added, but you can always add more of them if you like.
