Shumai (pronounced 'shoe-my') is a staple of Yum Cha. In the West they are better known as Dim Sim, but shumais are a smaller version, with firm mix of meat and vegetables in an open top pastry wrapper.
Either wrapped in lotus leaf or tofu skin, these are gluten free options and very popular China, particularly as breakfast or afternoon snack. We like them time of the day.
